Originating from France but a resident of New York City for over 10 years, Aurélien Budynek is a guitarist by trade and a passionate music creator, in constant demand for forging guitar parts as well as producing and co-writing music with artists from the ground up.
His many credits include touring the world with jazz-rock drummer Cindy Blackman, regularly appearing in the NY Broadway productions of "Hamilton", "Book of Mormon" and "School of Rock", performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater backed by an 80-piece symphonic orchestra and traveling across the country with foul mouthed comedy band "The Dan Band".
His skills as a player led him to share the stage with luminaries such as Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Vernon Reid, Meshell Ndegeocello... He has been featured on recordings with Nuno Bettencourt, Rob Thomas, Nicole Scherzinger and many others.
He has played in over 30 countries, on 4 continents.
Appreciative of vast musical styles, Aurélien is equally at ease in the most free of improvised settings, as well as the most demanding scripted, part-heavy productions.
He is a founding member of the rock group DareDevil Squadron (featuring members of Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and can regularly be heard filling in on the Broadway musicals "Hamilton", "Book of Mormon" and "School of Rock". (in the past, on "Rock of Ages" and "The Last Ship")
He is a member of Cindy Blackman's Another Lifetime and has been touring in the U.S., Europe and Africa since 2009. He has shared the stage with Rashaan Carter, Zaccai Curtis, Felix Pastorius, Marc Cary, Vernon Reid, Matt Garrison, David Gilmore, David Santos, Patrice Rushen, Benny Rietveld, Steve Jenkins...
Aurélien has been the guitarist and musical director of The Dan Band since 2011 and has been performing monthly in New York City and around the U.S.
Other projects include Stratospheerius (jam/rock) which he's been a member of since 2007. They have performed in clubs, festivals and theaters all over the East coast, the West coast, the South and the Mid-West, released several albums and singles.
On the other side of the glass wall, Aurélien has been working as a producer and/or mixing engineer for such artists and groups as Kudisan Kai, Andrew Ross, DareDevil Squadron, Jenny Martin, aLkemy...
As an instructor, Aurélien was a faculty member of the National Guitar Workshop from 2006 ro 2012 and has taught rock, funk and jazz classes, as well as conducting ensembles and teaching private lessons on the Connecticut, Nashville and D.C. campuses. He teaches privately in NYC and worlwide through Skype.
Aurélien is a native of Bordeaux, France. He graduated under scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in 2005.
He has been featured in magazines such as Premier Guitar and Guitar Edge, and is an endorsed artist with Atomic Guitar Works, D'Addario strings, DiMarzio pickups and Mono cases.
